Kenyan hockey players get the surprise of a lifetime
In what is turning out to be the coolest Tim Horton’s promo ever, NHL superstars Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon gave a group of Kenyan hockey players the surprise of a lifetime. It all starts out when, well… we’ll let you watch for yourself in the video below:
The Kenya Ice Lions had been admiring the game of hockey from afar for a long time, but they had no opponents to play against. Tim Horton’s gave this group of 12 an experience of a lifetime by bringing them to Toronto to play hockey with some of their idols.
“I couldn’t say anything,” Arnold Mburu told the Toronto Sun. “I had no idea. We were all dressed up and because we were a few guys short, they told us they are going to get extra guys. But then Crosby walks in. And MacKinnon’s face is right behind them. And I can’t believe it.”
Sidney Crosby took it a step further by inviting Kenya Ice Lions’ team captain, Benard Azegere, to Scotiabank Arena on Thursday night to watch the Toronto Maple Leafs play against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Truly an experience that these Kenyan hockey players will never forget!
