Seems like just yesterday that the Pittsburgh Penguins were hoisting the Stanley Cup at PPG Paints Arena. Let’s hope you didn’t get too comfy over your cushy summer break, because hockey is back in full swing! We’re only a few days into the season, so what have we learned thus far?
Connor McDavid hasn’t lost a step. In fact, we think he gained a few steps (if that makes any sense).
Hat tricks are in fashion. McDavid, Simmonds, Saad, Ovechkin, This marks the first time that 4 separate players have recorded hat tricks in their respective season openers since the NHL’s first two games EVER played back in 1917. Oveckin scored 4 goals on Saturday as well.
Goalies can ONLY have white tape on the knob of their stick (who knew?).
Another equipment violation for the Leafs, but this time the officials just make Andersen cover up his blue-coloured grip tape pic.twitter.com/gntTWyklI4

Preseason is exciting because it marks the return of hockey, but frustrating because preseason is when the NHL experiments with new rules which nobody knows about. There’s a new standard for face-off violations and slashes that had left player and fans dumbfounded.
Yep, hockey is back. Tell us in the comment section what you like/dislike so far in the NHL season!
